Seed Planting Struggles.

Does anyone else face the constant battle of not seeing immediate results from what they are doing? Yes? Yes. I don't know if it is this sort of immediate gratification world we live in or what but I hear the whole 'the field is white already to harvest' on a daily basis. And I just can't help but thinking.. 'ummm... it's not looking too white over here.' ( I know. bad attitude) I can't even tell you how many times I have read the 'what is a successful missionary' section. It is at least a weekly ritual. But I heard a few little cherry-on-top experiences this week.

Claudia who had always felt like she was missing something in her life, went online and google searched world religions. When she found our website she started reading the question and answer section. Felt the spirit and started meeting with the missionaries. She was baptized last year and wanted the missionaries to help her make a mormon.org profile so that she could do the same.

Karina saw a movie about mormons and called the missionaries telling them that she wanted to serve a mission. They were shocked. Like how often do you get a call like that? They explained to her that maybe she should gain a testimony of this church or something first. They taught her, baptized her, and she is now preparing to serve a mission.

Sister Jonker found us through a phone book.

Two Elders thought it would be funny to leave a Word of Wisdom pamphlet in someone's hand who was passed out drunk in the middle of the street. A few days later he called saying he had read the pamphlet and wondered if they could help him get his life together.

Another girl talked to two missionaries and had a good conversation and all but nothing came out of it. She simply put the card in her wallet and went on her merry little way. SIx months later during a particular rough patch in her life, she remembered the card and called the missionaries. Changed her life and was baptized.

Holy cow. How cool is this church? I am in love. There are so many ways people have found and are finding this church and changing their lives. Think of the person who answered that question on the Q&A on mormon.org, or who made that movie and posted it, or put our name in the phone book, or the missionaries who left the card, or the Word of Wisdom pamphlet. They had no idea someone would come unto Christ through that. No idea.

Maybe the field is white.. but when I hear stories like that I am okay with being a seed planter.

Splits are now becoming the norm. But shout out to Sister Jackson who braided my hair and gave me a back rub at our sleepover as she told me at least half of those success stories I just shared. I live a life of luxury. I know.

Okay seriously zone trainings might just be my new favorite part of missionary work now. Between glitter hearts and intense head bands. Our two zones are now pumped to be finders.... maybe.. hehe Go get em tiger.

The Elders have been teaching Yang and he was baptized this past Saturday. So special. Seriously. I don't think it could ever get old. I have too much love for these people and I barely know them.
